a good weekend for me!
Well i went down to san diego and although we lost 2-0, i played 62 minutes woohoo! i didn't start, they scored two goals in the first minute (literally they actually did...) and i went in with 17 minutes left in the first half. I played well, but i didn't really do anything spectacular. i talked to the coach after the game and he said that i played really well there was only one thing that he wanted me to fix and we talked about it. and then i started and played all 90 minutes today :) i was pretty excited!! i don't think i played well, but thats okay! i was EXCITED!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS

Travel
So sorry it has been so long since i sent an update! i gave my laptop to mom cuz somehting is wrong with it and i am finally able to use someone else's laptop. Anyway, i have been doing great! trainings are going well and im holding my own on the field. If you guys don't already know, we lost to uw 2-0 and had horrible ref. We had one of our goals called back and had multiple shots where defenders had incredible saves. i didn't see any playing time, but i did at our next game against st. mary's. i played the last 25 minutes and i think i played alright. i didn't really have any awesome plays, but i don't believe i messed up either. it was great to get some field time! we won that game 5-1. today i made the travel team for our game against San Diego on Friday. I leave tomorrow morning at 9:15 for our flight. i probably won't see any playing time, but its exciting that i made the travel roster!! woohoo!!!!!
love you all! i probably will only be updating once a week from now on as i am finding myself more and more limited on time. hope to see you soon :)

Hello! sorry i haven't posted in a while! it's been a little busy over here. well i played in our first game against boise! i played for 40 minutes. about the last 20 of the first half and the last 20 of the second half. I played pretty well! no major mistakes really and a couple good plays. we lost 2-1 but it was an exhibition game so we learned what works and what doesn't. it was a great way to prepare for our game against UW this friday! we had a recovery practice on sunday. those who played a good amount of playing time were in the recovery practice and the rest had an actual practice. I was part of the recovery group woohoo! so i gess that means i played a majority of the game. Jenny and mark came up on Sunday night and stayed the night in my room cuz my roommate was gone. So i spent last night and today with them. it was awesome :) i missed them very, very much! we went to the EMP, pike place market, and found some really great restaurants. it was really good to see them again. Practice and individual meetings this week and then games this weekend! first actual game! can't wait! all my love. kj

sorry i didn't post last night. possibly played the worst soccer of my life and i really didn't feel like posting about it. but im feeling much better now! we played 11v11 yesterday and it was the starting line-up vs the rest of us. i was playing centerback with a girl who has never played before and it was frustrating because she kept cuttting behind me and it probably looked like i was doing nothing. i didn't play well regardless. my old club coach came up so i was able to see and talk with him which was awesome. I didn't talk to him about how horrible i played, but was able to catch up on how his family and teh club was doing. it was really nice to hear about the girls ive played soccer with for a long time and where they are going to college in the next few years.
grandma and papa said they were going to come up and visit but something came up and wont be coming. so a couple of my friends from high school will be coming up. I'm really excited! Just got off the phone with mom and she told me that mark will be coming up on the 12 and 13 so im looking forward to this next week :) we are leaving tomorrow for Walla Walla where we will be playing Bosie State. Everyone travels on this one so im pretty excited for my first college trip! Ohh and Uncle Mark... I had the chipotle lime chicken strip things. i didn't have a pan to put in the oven so i had to microwave them, but without a doubt i will be buying more of those! THEY WERE SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by the way... its 10 minutes into the womens final and usa is already up 1-0. GO USA WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! we screamed when they scored. hopefully the RAs wont come and yell at us...
love you all!

today went pretty well! i think i played okay and i had one really good ball that the coach yelled "great ball kelly beck!" it made me happy haha some of my club coaches always called me kelly beck and it made me think of them. miss them! anyway i had a couple good plays on defense today too which was awesome! i am pooped! one more day of 2-a-days! yay!!! we are playing 11v11 tomorrow morning, and idk what we are doing tomorrow afternoon. the guys soccer team and volleyball moved in today so it was kinda annoying cuz the training room and dinner were super crowded. its gonna be really weird when everyone else moves in too haha my one bad news is that i think i pulled my groin. i always seem to pull my right quad and it was really bothering me this last week but its slowly moving to my groin :( hopefully it heals soon!
ohh and uncle mark: i went to target today to buy some food and i happened to pick up some chipotle lime chicken strips from gardein! im gonna try them out! i look forward to giving you a report about how delicious they are :)
all my love. kelly jo (ann)

Today was a little bit of a struggle. Our morning session was simple and there wasn't a lot of physical demand to it so it was a lighter practice. Our afternoon session was a lot of work and although I didn't stop running I don't think I played well. My passes were off and I couldn't really seem to do what was needed. So I'm gonna try to get some good sleep and play better tomorrow. Xxoo

well the night did get better! i think i played pretty well. i was frustrated with one of the centerbacks i played with becuase she never talked to me so it was frustrating, but when we switched the teams around i was with a different centerback and things went much better! Last night we went to one of the Seniors house which was amazing! When we pulled into the driveway a girl in the car said she didn't know we were going to the white house haha it was gorgeous! so we did some team bonding stuff and watched an outdoor movie. It was really fun! Her parents made us breakfast in the morning too which was DELICOUS! We all got up this morning and headed back to the dorms as this is our one day off this week. Then 7 of us went to jump off a bridge in a lake which in fact turned out to be a part of the highway that was no longer being used. It was kinda cool! It was like they rebuilt the highway around it and then just left this quarter of a mile stretch of road underneath what they built. So we walked to the end of the abandoned road and jumped off of it into the lake below. it was a 40 foot drop and i was terrified to say the least haha i hate heights. i tried to go straight in the water but i kinda failed and now im pretty sure my butt is bruised... it was a lot of fun and i was really happy to get to know the girls a little better! now Natasha and i are off to the grocery store to buy some food for our room. practice starts up again at 7:30 tomorrow morning... love you all.

Rough Day
so we had the shuttle fitness test today which did not go quite as i had hoped. I got through six of the shuttles and then had an asthma attack and didnt finish the other four. So i have two more opportunities on technical testing to add time to my beep test or i have to redo the beep test which really won't be that bad. i'm just pooped! we did some 2v2 defending this morning which i didn't do horrible in, but not awesome either, so im hoping to do better tonight. we are playing 11v11 full field tonight so i'm hoping my legs will survive haha just thought i would share with you guys the joys of 2-a-day trainings :) enjoy the picture. matching ones on each foot.
i'll let you guys know how things go tonight. love you.

Recap of the Last Few Days
Hello Family! i thought this would be an easy way to keep you guys updated and you guys can come on and check anytime you like! Mom sent out an email today with everything that has been going on and i would just like to follow up!
I have been doing well especially with not really having a coach or team this last year. I've been training with SU for three days now and I'm already really excited about being coached! :) it's amazing what good coaches can do for a team! Among the two-a-day trainings we have had various fitness tests which have been difficult and EXTREMELY tiring. I'm pooped to say the least.
The first test that i had to do was called the beep test. this is where we run 22 yards back and forth to the sound of a beep. it gets progressivly faster to the point where you are essentially sprinting back and forth. You can miss one beep but then you have to catch up to the line before the second beep or you are done. The standard time for SU was 10:00 minutes and the starting time is 10:30. I got 10:11 which i guess is really good for a freshman who has never ran it before, so that was pretty exciting! i will have the opportunity to run it again and i definitely will. Its awesome to hear all the girls cheering you on, but it sucks when you don't hear the coaches tell you you have to catch the next line or you're done. Thats what happened to me haha no worries though! We have 5 technical tests that we can do to add time to our beep test. So right now my time is 10:21. I have two more tests i can do and if i pass then i don't have to do the beep again which would be awesome! anyway... I had the mile test yesterday and got a 6:21 and i needed to get a 6:30 so that was great! I've been extremely nervous for all these tests so im feeling pretty good about them now! i have to do the shuttle run tomorrow which i am definitely not looking forward to :( its supposed to be 86 degrees and we have to do the run on turf.... my feet are gonna be HOT!
The soccer portion is going pretty well. I'm not entirely pleased on how i have been playing, but i never am, so nothing is new haha I've been playing centerback and learning how these coaches like to play there back line which is a little different than what im used to, but its been great to see their style of play! Like mom said in the email, i had an awesome goal in a small sided game which saved my team from having to do extra sprints so i was pretty excited! I was playing right back and was going to shoot with my right but a defender was coming so i cut it back to my left and had a left footed shot that bent into the side netting. i was as surprised as everyone else when it went in hahahaha didn't know i could do that! woohoo! i've been working really hard in centerback, but its been kinda difficult because i haven't been playing with the best centermids so i have been constantly hammered in the back and i talked with my right outside back about it cuz i didn't know what to do and she said i was doing great that the people who were constantly dribbling down the middle were the centermids jobs so that was good to hear that it wasn't entirely my fault. I then started tell the centermids where to go and to mark up more and it got better. This mornings training was probably the best practice of my life.... we had a walking practice :) we just did a walk through and talked about situation stuff as a defense. my legs were very, very grateful! i'm extemely sore and these breaks we have in between 2-a-days are spent napping. Yesterday I wasn't doing the best, but Rich (the assistant coach) was helping me out and telling me what to improve on. We were doing 1-1 defense which i'm not very good at and he was giving me pointers on what to do. The girls on the team are awesome and i am sooooo happy that i chose this team over any other. They are all extemely encouraging and make sure that us "freshies" are doing well :) i've gotten some really good compliments from the coaches so i'm feeling better about my play. They told me that they can tell i've done my fitness packet because i'm really in shape and they have said a couple times that i have had good practices.
hope all of you are doing well! love you so much :)
